Features
Erskine is a borough in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, just north of Harrisburg. With a population of roughly 37,000, it’s the second-largest suburb of the state capital. The town’s history dates back to colonial times, when it was known as “Quaker Bridge” due to its location on the Susquehanna River. Erskine was incorporated as a borough in 1872. Since then, it’s grown into a community that offers residents a diverse array of amenities, including parks, public transportation, and retail options.
In addition to being located near major highways and rail lines, Erskine is also home to several colleges and universities. These include Penn State University (which has an athletic facility in nearby Lewistown), Lincoln University (located in nearby Oxford), and Clinton College (a private liberal arts school).
Erskine is also known for its natural beauty: While it lies along the banks of the Susquehanna River, it’s also home to scenic preserves that offer visitors opportunities to hike and explore the area’s extensive trails. In addition, there are several outdoor recreational activities that residents can take advantage of. These include kayaking along rivers or biking along trails in parks.
